Channel Rules
#GayGeeks is not a sex channel, nor is it a place for exchanging pictures, or cruising. (Soliciting
sexually oriented chat, dates, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc) There are easily hundreds of other channels
on UnderNet where that sort of behavior is tolerated or even encouraged. #GayGeeks is not one of them.
Please remember that every person is a human being, with thoughts and feelings just like you.
The rule of thumb to remember is: If you wouldn't like something done to you, don't do it to others.
There are a couple of sensitive subjects we do not discuss. If they come up, kindly respect the decision of channel management & do not persist in discussing them.
This decision is final and non-negotiable. This is one of the very few offenses where we ban first and ask questions later.
Please refrain from advertising explicit/offensive/sexual oriented websites, commercial entities, and other channels.
Chatting about sex (in a non-prurient way) is fine and a tiny bit of flirting is acceptable; however, please keep a lid on the more risque
comments. Cybersex or soliciting sex will not be tolerated.
All people shall treat each other with common respect and dignity. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
To spell it out for people who are having problems understanding this: No personal attacks and no incivility toward other users will be tolerated.
(Even if you feel a user has attacked you, you are only making the situation worse by returning incivility with more incivility)
Those who have obscene/offensive nicknames will be kicked and banned on the spot without warning.
Those with sexually related nicks will be asked to change them because that stuff is irrelevant here.
If you want to join the channel, that's fine. If you want to part the channel, that's fine too. If you want to
join/part/join/part, not fine. Eventually, an Op will just get sick and tired of seeing you, and ban you.
One clone per person is allowable. Others must have the advanced approval of the channel manager.
You don't
need multiple copies of yourself to participate in the channel.
User-operated bots are not allowed in channel without the express consent of the channel administration.
FServs (file serving bots) and war bots (bots designed for the purpose of disrupting, harassing, and/or taking
over a channel) are not allowed in channel.
The following is strictly prohibited:
- Being in anti-gay channels while in #GayGeeks
- Flooding of any type
- The use of Microsoft Chat in Comic Chat mode (who uses that piece of crap anyway?)
- Bashing others because of their sexual orientation, nationality, religion, race, and/or sex
- Asking for Cam2Cam
- Exchanging pedophilia or illegal materials
- Picture trading (with the exception of self-pics)
- Using war scripts
- ASL questions (One's age, sex, or location is not relevant to most of the discussions which occur in
the channel. It only becomes relevant when we get to know new people, and they get to know us.)
- Harassing other users (Important note: We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for harassment & trolling).
- Suicide or self-harm are not to be mentioned - or even hinted at. Besides, if you're going talk about it, you probably have more problems than we in the
channel are capable of dealing with - we recommend to talk about it in #depression.
- No overly emo crap or drama. That's annoying. Thanks.
- Sex channels are banned - simply because random idiots tend to sometimes come in from sex channels and ask "HI! CAM?". So rather than kick them out every time, those channels are banned.
We simply don't give Ops to just anyone for asking. Those who are added as channel operators are added by the channel management.
Channel regulars are voiced by the management as an indication of their status. However, you do not need a voice
(+) to participate in the channel, so don't ask.
Lurking isn't discouraged, but at least talk every now and then, so that we know you're alive.
If you can't chat, you shouldn't run an IRC client when people will actually expect you to chat. :)
Most people should be able to connect directly to IRC, therefore we do not allow the use of proxies or anything that would anonymise your identity.
Exceptions: IRC bouncers like BNC or psybnc are permitted.
All channel operators are entrusted to uphold and enforce the policies of this channel universally and with sound
judgement.
If you have an issue with a channel operator, please privately resolve it with them directly first.
Please contact the channel management only when your attempts to resolve the issue directly with that operator have
failed.
The management can be reached at chat(at)gay-geeks.com
If you have any questions regarding the rules, please get in contact with the channel operators or a member of the
channel management.
